Who needs combo unit insurance
Combo bounce/slide units are the workhorse of the bounce-house rental industry β high booking frequency, dual-purpose appeal, and a wider exposure surface than a single-purpose unit. The integrated slide adds wet-or-dry possibilities, height variations, and additional anchor points that change how the policy responds to a claim. Most underwriters look at combo unit count separately from pure bounce houses, which is why we ask for it explicitly on the inflatable quote form. If your inventory mixes combo units with stand-alone bounce houses, slip-and-slides, or water units, schedule each class so a claim is not denied for unscheduled equipment.
What makes combo unit underwrite differently
- Dual entry/exit points β bounce area and slide exit each generate their own injury patterns and need supervised flow
- Slide height varies more than on a stand-alone bounce house, which changes the head-first-entry exposure
- Wet-or-dry use means anchor points must hold through saturation β many operators run combo units wet on hot days without re-anchoring
- Higher anchor count than a single bounce house; manufacturer manuals are authoritative
- Combo units take up a larger footprint, increasing the wind exposure that triggers claims at lower wind speeds
What this coverage includes
- Bodily injury β third-party medical and legal costs from injuries during use, setup, or takedown.
- Property damage β damage your operations cause to a venue or third-party property.
- Products and completed operations β claims arising after you finish the event and leave.
- Inland marine (optional) β coverage for the combo unit units themselves while in transit, at the warehouse, or set up.
- Commercial umbrella (optional) β extra layer above primary GL.
What it does NOT cover
- Employee injuries β workers compensation
- Delivery vehicles β commercial auto
- Damage to your warehouse β commercial property
- Mistakes in advice or planning β professional liability / E&O
- Intentional acts or assault
- Equipment you did not schedule on the policy
Annual coverage vs. one-day events
We write annual commercial general liability β not one-day event coverage. Annual coverage gives you continuous protection between events, simpler certificate workflows, and better long-term rates than buying one-day policies repeatedly. Most operators with more than four events per year save money on annual coverage.
Common venue requirements
- Certificate of insurance with $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate (typical)
- Venue named as additional insured on the COI
- Waiver of subrogation
- 30-day notice of cancellation
- Some county parks and school districts require named additional insured plus a primary and non-contributory endorsement
