Who needs event rental insurance
Event rental insurance is built for production companies whose business is the gear and the technical execution rather than tents and tables. Coverage applies to:
- Audio production and PA rental companies
- Lighting design and rental companies
- Staging and rigging rental for festivals, conferences, and corporate events
- Generator rental for outdoor and remote events
- AV companies serving conferences, weddings, and corporate gatherings
- Touring production companies traveling state-to-state
How event rental differs from party rental
Party rental serves the broad rental fleet β tents, tables, chairs, inflatables, concessions. Event rental serves production β audio, lighting, staging, AV. The audiences are different, the carriers price the lines differently, and the risk profiles diverge: party rental is dominated by venue-side property damage and tent collapse; event rental is dominated by stage failure, rigging incidents, and equipment-in-transit loss.
Many operators carry both lines. We structure the policies so they are complementary and there are no coverage gaps at the seam.
Stage, rigging, and tour exposure
Stage and rigging is the highest-severity exposure in the event rental line. Failures during load-in, performance, or strike can cascade into multi-victim claims. Carriers want documented load calculations, rigger certifications (ETCP or equivalent), stage inspection paperwork before each event, and weather cancellation language in your production contracts.
Touring and multi-state operations
Touring operators get inland marine on the touring inventory plus territory schedules so claims at any tour stop respond as written. We coordinate venue-required additional insured naming for tour-specific contracts and pre-stage certificates for repeat venues. Touring across the 14 states we write in is straightforward; out-of-state tours into states we do not write are handled with non-admitted carriers when the contract requires it.
